How to Activate Opcom 150406b with Win Hex 20
Opcom is a diagnostic tool for Opel cars that covers almost all models, even new ones with Can-Bus based diagnostic. It is PC based and connects to the car via a USB cable. Opcom 150406b is one of the latest versions of the software that requires activation before use. In this article, we will show you how to activate Opcom 150406b with Win Hex 20, a hex editor that can modify binary files.
Before you start, you need to have Opcom 150406b software installed on your computer. You also need to have Win Hex 20 downloaded and installed from https://www.x-ways.net/winhex/. You also need a working Opcom interface with a real PIC18F458 chip inside. You can check if your interface has a real PIC18F458 chip by opening it and looking at the label on the chip. If it says PIC18F458, then it is real. If it says PIC18F458-I/SO or PIC18F2480, then it is fake and will not work.
Here are the steps to activate Opcom 150406b with Win Hex 20:
Connect your Opcom interface to your computer via USB and run Opcom.exe from the installation folder.
Select your language and click on Diagnostics.
Select your car model and year and click on Connect.
Wait for the software to detect your interface and show you its serial number. Write down this serial number as you will need it later.
Close Opcom.exe and run Win Hex 20 as administrator.
Click on File -> Open RAM... and select Opcom.exe from the installation folder.
Click on Search -> Find Text... and enter your serial number in the Text field. Make sure you select Unicode string as the Data type and click on OK.
Win Hex 20 will find your serial number in the Opcom.exe file and highlight it. Right-click on it and select Modify Data -> Fill Block...
In the Fill Block dialog box, enter FF in the Value field and click on OK. This will overwrite your serial number with FF bytes.
Click on File -> Save As... and save the modified Opcom.exe file as Opcom_new.exe in the same installation folder.
Close Win Hex 20 and run Opcom_new.exe as administrator.
Select your language and click on Diagnostics.
Select your car model and year and click on Connect.
Wait for the software to connect to your interface and show you its firmware version. It should be 1.59 or higher. If not, you need to update your interface firmware with another software.
Congratulations! You have successfully activated Opcom 150406b with Win Hex 20. You can now use it to diagnose your Opel car.
